Operations
MIRT
MIRT is an acronym for the Major Incident Response Team.
The team was formed following the events of 9/11. This unit is comprised
of several officers from Lower Makefield Township that make up a larger
Bucks County team. (The counties of Montgomery, Delaware and Chester
surrounding the city of Philadelphia also have MIRT teams.) These
teams are used for major incidents that could occur in one or more
of these counties or in Philadelphia. The officers could respond to
a terrorist-related attack, riots, national political conventions,
or visits by U.S. leaders such as the President, or foreign leaders.
The teams can provide additional security at such functions or as
back up to the primary law enforcement agency they are assisting.
