D.A.R.E./Community Policing Unit
DARE is an acronym for Drug Abuse Resistance Education. Our
DARE program was adopted in 1990 by the Lower Makefield Township Police
Department, the Falls Township Police Department and the Pennsbury
School District. The program is active at 22 schools in the school
district including public, parochial and private schools. DARE is
now taught to students in grades 1 through 5 in the elementary schools,
and grade 6 in our Middle Schools. The program is also taught in grade
8 in the parochial and private schools.
The
Lower Makefield Township officers who are DARE Instructors play
a dual role as the Community Relations Officers. They tackle a wide
variety of issues that affect the quality of life of our residents.
The officers are also responsible for overseeing the day-to-day
operations of the Lower Makefield Township Neighborhood
Watch Association, including the crime
and police log that is published weekly on the Neighborhood
Watch Association website.
