Captain, Thomas Roche
Tom Roche graduated from Archbishop Wood HS in Warminster. After high school, Tom served in the US Army, servicing as a Military Policeman at various bases in the United States, and with the 23rd (Americal) Infantry Division in Chu Lai, the Republic of Vietnam, leaving the service in 1971.
Tom was hired by the Lower Makefield Township Police Department in January 1974. In the patrol Division, Tom worked as a patrolman and as an Accident Investigator Specialist. Tom was promoted to Corporal in February 1982 and became the training officer and head of the Field Training Program, which takes new officers and puts them through three months of training with an experienced officer before they hit the street on their own. He is a graduate of the Penn State’s Police Supervisors Training and the Police Executive Training, as well as their Command Institute for Police Executives.
Tom was promoted to Sergeant in June of 1994. He was made Acting Lieutenant in 1998 and promoted to the rank of Captain by Chief Ken Coluzzi in 2001. Tom was assigned as the second-in-command of the department and is in charge of various aspects of the department: Management Info Sys & Computer Integrity, Traffic Safety Coordinator & Liaison, Internal Affairs, Detectives & Investigations, Special Events Coordinator, and is the Deputy Emergency Management Coordinator.
