Lieutenant,
John V. Hansberry
John Hansberry graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and worked
for various companies in the Philadelphia region before being hired
by the
Lower Makefield Township Police Department in May 1970. John graduated
from the Pennsylvania State Police Municipal Police Officers Training
School in Collegeville, PA. He successfully completed the Penn State's
Police Supervisors Training and the Police Executive Training, as
well
as their Command Institute for Police Executives.
John served as a juvenile officer for the department from 1975 through
1978. In 1978 he returned to the patrol division and became the
supervisor of the department's K-9 Unit. He was promoted to the
rank of
probationary Corporal in July 1981 and appointed to that rank in
February 1982. John is a certified NRA, Smith and Wesson and a Municipal
Police Officer's Firearms Instructor.
John was assigned as an Acting Sergeant in September 1993 and was
promoted to that rank in June 1994. In 2001 he was promoted to the
rank
of Lieutenant by Chief Ken Coluzzi. He currently oversees the Patrol
Division, D.A.R.E. / Community Policing Unit and is Co-Commander
of the
Bucks County South Central Emergency Response Team which includes
officers from 13 different municipalities. John is also responsible
for
the training of the Lower Makefield officers, plus S.W.A.T. members
from
the 13 municipalities.
